Update on the Cairns to Brisbane Hash Adventure. A quick re-cap for those who enquired recently. It’s a 4 day, 3 night trip.

At first, we wanted to do a train trip from Cairns to Brisbane with stops & Hash runs along the way and getting more hashers to join us. However, the problem with this idea is the Queensland Rail timetable!! This meant either we are stuck somewhere for 24 hours or we are at a train station at 3 am waiting for a train.

So plan 2 :- a mix, train and coach

The current itinerary we are costing is –

• Friday Night 26th April – hash Run in Cairns. Own accommodation.
• Saturday the 27th April - Sunlander (train) from Cairns to Townsville depart Cairns 9 am
• –         Arrive Townsville around 4 pm – Hash run in Townsville.
• Sunday the 28th April - coach (bus) and head to Mackay – Hash run in Mackay.
• Monday the 29th April - back on the coach and head to Rockhampton – Hash run in Rockhampton.
• Tuesday the 30th April - Early start for the tilt train to Brisbane 7 am. Depart Rockhampton 7.15 am arrive Brisbane2.50 pm.

(This itinerary may change – both trains are licensed)

The prices we are getting back are not that cheap, mainly due to the use of the bus as it’s a one way booking, so we are paying for it to go back empty.

The prices are looking like just under $600 all the way from Cairns to Brisbane.

• Around the $400 if you start in Townsville.
• About $320 if you start in Mackay.
• Rockhampton cost is basically hotel & train.

These prices include train and coach, motel accommodation and breakfasts. Still working on cost of hash runs.

Can you pass it around and talk about it then get back to me and tell me if you are still interested or not. We need at least 30 for the bus section to make it economical.
